It was good match, with goals, fast actions, good fight - everything that full crowd  enjoyed. First shot was by Grzelak from 16m - in minute 7 Lech made a good action but Reiss couldn't controll the ball well and Ludwikowski catched it. Widzew, being in attack from very first minute, wanted to made a goal as soon as it was possible. In minute 19 Damian Seweryn put the ball into Lech area, Dymkowski give the ball back to Batata, who made a hard shot on the ground and Tyrajski missed the baL. 1-0. Two minutes later, Widzew could double the score after good Wegrzyn header, but Michalski saved the ball just before the line. In minute 23, Ciesielski, being attacked into his own 16m area, made a hand-ball and Piskula has no  problem from penalty kick. In minute 32 both teams has good chances and just before the  brake hermes move three Lech defenders and made a good shot, but Tyrajski saved. Second half started by Lech goal. In minute 49, after Matlak's corner Michalski made a good header. Three minutes later, Widzew could level, but Grzelak from free kick just into the wall. In minute 61, Brazilian Giuliano couldn't take a good pass from Andjelković. In minute 66 Tyrajski saved hard shot of Hermes and some minute later another shot by Dymkowski. 16 minutes before the end, Włodarczyk step on the field as substituite. Five minute later he made a shot from 11m, Giuliano gave him a good ball after some chaos  into Lech area and... 2-2. Widzew players was so happy that they could lose another goal imediatly, but Reiss couldn't  win one-on-one against Ludwikowski. Widzew tried to made winning goal till the end of the match but no of their action was really dangerous.

In Warszawa, Polonia defeated Ruch. The match wasn't a good one. Polonia's players didn't show themselves from a good side before the match with Porto. In the first 15 minutes Polonia had the advantage. Kęska tried to score twice. He missed for the first time and the second shot was defended by Ruch's goalkeeper. In the 30' Kęska shot and scored. After loosing a goal Ruch attacked but they couldn't shoot because of the good Polonia's defense line. Just before the break again Kęska tried to scored. His shot was defended by Matuszek. Three minutes after beginning of the second half Kuś made a fatal error, Bizacki took advantage of it and scored. After the equalizing goal Polonia played better. Scherfchen tried scoring twice, next Malinowski and Bykowski did. But none of them couldn't defeat Matuszek. In the 70' Gołaszewski passed to Bykowski who scored. From then, nothing interesting happened until the end of the match.

In the 9' GKS scored their goal. Bojarski passed toSierka who scored. In the 14' Bojarski missed. In the 24' Gajtkowski tried scoring but Zagłębie's goalkeeper was better than him. In the 32' Wróbel's shot was defended by Tkocz. A moment later Kowalczyk, Gajtkowski and Sierka shot but all of them missed. In the 67' Lizak had a very good chance of equalizing but missed. In the 85' after a good GKS' action, Bała passed to... Zagłębie's defensor. In the last minute Grzybowski missed from 5 meters.

The Ekstraklasa leader, Odra Wodzisław, won with Groclin. In the 8' Kozioł shot from 20 meters, Bęben bounced the ball, which hit the crossbar and flew into the penalty area. Next Rocki's and Sibik's shot were defended by Liberda. In the 21' Madej passed to Ziarkowski who headed and scored. In the 27' Bęben defedned two Rasiak's shots. In the 36' Jarosz shot too weakly. In the 43' it was 2:0 - again Ziarkowski headed. In the 53' Sibik's good shot was defended by Liberda. But in the 56' Rocki's shot wasn't defended. After this goal Odra didn't attack much and neither did Groclin. In the 90' Gorszkow shot from 25 meters and scored a goal after a well made Groclin's action.

In the first half Amica was definately better. In the 6' Dembiński's shot was defended by Lech. Ten minutes later another Dembiński's shot was defended. In the 21' Gęsior missed. In the 26' Dembiński passed directly to Król who scored. In the 32' Zieńczuk shot into the crossbar. Górnik beginned the second half very well. But Wiśniewski's and Niedzielan's shots were defended. In the 65' Król instead of shooting passed to Dawidowski. In the 79' Wiśniewski executed a free kick and scored. In the last minute Wiśniewski defended Gęsior's shot but then Djokovic scored.

A match between the main candidate for the champion title and the main candidate to be relegated took place in Kraków. In the 6' the first Wisła's shot was defended by Saranović. A few minutes later after Pokładowski's foul on Kosowski there was a free kick. Żurawski executed it but the ball hit one of Pogoń's players in the head. In the 18' Żurawski passed to Uche who missed. In the 24' Pogoń attacked for the first time - Hugues had nothing to do because Chifon missed. A moment later after a Kuźba-Żurawski action Żurawski shot from 12 meters but Norko defended this shot. In the 32' Uche shot from 20 meters, the ball hit the crossbar, then Kosowski got it and shot, but Norko defended. Next Żurawski missed. Eight minutes later Uche scored. In the 49' took place Pogoń's first good shot - Hugues defended Saranovic's one. In the 59' after Andżem fouled on Baszczyński there was a free kick. Kosowski passed to Stolarczyk, Norko defended, Uche got the ball, Norko defended also his shot, then Kuźba got the ball and finally scored. In the 65' Kosowski was changed by Pater and Żurawski by Strąk. In the 83' Andżem's shot was defended. In the 90' Baszczyński's shot was defended by one of Pogoń's defensors. Next, Pater passed to Kuźba who scored.

In the first half almost nothing happened. The only good action took place in the 40' when Jeleń scored the first goal. The second half was much better. Szczakowianka tried to attack but it was Wisła who scored the next goal. In the 56' Maćkiewicz headed and scored. In the 73' three Wisła's defensors couldn't stop Wolański who scored the only goal for Szczakowianka. In the 85' Romuzga's shot from 25 meters was defended by Matusiak.

In the 3' Omeljańczuk's shot from 30 meters was defended by KSZO's goalkeeper. In the 11' Żelazowski had a good chance but slid on the wet field. In the 18' Żelazowski's shot was defended by Stanew. In the 21' and 34' Omeljańczuk missed. Just before the break Stanew caught the ball after Małocha's shot. In the 51' Małocha shot right into Legia's goalkeeper. In the 57' there was a free kick for Legia, about the 20 meter. Svitlica executed the free kick and scored. In the 63' Omeljańczuk didn't miss at last but Piątek defended his shot. In the 75' Grębowski ran by Zieliński and scored. From then KSZO played better. In the end of the match Saganowski missed.

PZPN approved the request of Polonia Warszawa that the match from Ekstraklasa against Zagłębie Lubin from 21 September to play on Monday, 23 September kick-off 15:00, because Polonia  Warszawa will play tomorrow night the match from UEFA Cup against FC Porto. Polonia Warszawa will have a very difficult match on "Estádio das Antas" in first round from UEFA Cup because the two international players, Paweł Kaczorowski and Arkadiusz Bąk injuried and will not be abble to play. Kaczorowski suffered a torn thigh muscle and will miss at least three weeks and Bąk will miss six weeks after an appendectomy. [18.09.2002]
