MATCH REPORT

But the reality in the first division is very cruel. Lech started slowly, trying to avoid early goal against (last match they was "punched" in 16 second ...) Lech built his action very long time in his own half, and supporters didn't like it at all ... First 45 min they saw nothing interessing. Lech could do nothing, missing speed in his action. Every try of positional play was well read by Katowice defenders, who reigned the air as well. So no one of seven corners brought nothing to Lech. Katowice really enjoyed slow play. Beeing a little faster than Lech players, they managed to made one good fast action on the left side Sierka - Bala - Wrobel. Last of them gave Tyrajski no chance. In second half Baniak made substitutions and Lech started to play faster. they has some chances (Mikosik, Bosacki, Golinski twice). It was hard time for Katowice keeper - he was very near to take a ball from his net, but it was after unfortunate shot of ... his own defender Sadzawicki. Trying to clear the situation he "shot" the ball straight towards Tkocz. In the last minutes Katowice could score second time by Bala's dangerous action.

AFTER THE MATCH:

Bogusław Baniak (Lech): "I talk to my players to watch fast Katowice contre attacks. We lost tha goal in such kind of situation, but it was lot of time to level the score. We has no good striker. I'm trying many players, we still have Piotr Reiss to try ... Today we lost as the team, all team and his coach, so I don't want to say anything  about any particular player."

Jan Żurek (GKS): "We fullfil all our tactical plan. We scored after one of good contre attacks. We have lot of luck in second half, but winning in football is to score the goals, not to make some chances to score..."

In Szczakowianka, Maciej Iwański, Marek Kubisz and Ryszard Czerwiec couldn't play. And to make matters worse, in the beginning of the match Andrzej Sermak got a contusion. After about half an hour of playing, Szczakowiaka attacked for the first time, but Bęben easily defended Przytuła's shot. In the 38' Myszor passed from the right side to Ziarkowski, who passed to Rocki. Rocki scored from 10 meters. Szczakowianka missed twice until the end of the first half (Przytuła, Chudy). In the 58' it could have been 0-2, but Chałbiński, who came to play after the break, didn't score. Next Szczakowianka attacked more and more. In the 70' Tokarz scored. In the  85' Odra made a fatal mistake - left three (!) Szczakowianka's players without attention. Chudy passed to Knezevic, and it was 2-1. It looked like it was to be the first Szczakowianka's win in Ekstraklasa. Last minute of the match. Górski shot, the ball bounced to Chałbiński and he scored. Just seconds later the same player headed over Wróbel and scored the winning goal.

Both teams in the last two rounds won one match and drew one. The first goal was scored in the 4': Andrzej Niedzielan, who is in good form since the beginning of the season, scored it. After Januszewski's error, Gierczak passed to Niedzielan, who defeated the goalkeeper. Groclin was surprised by the fact that Górnik scored and tried to equalize. In the 5' after Moskała's good action, Zając missed. Next, Górnik's goalkeeper defended Jackiewicz's and Zając's shots. But in the 15' Rasiak, after Zając drove the ball on the right side, scored. Five minutes later it was 2-1. Sebastian Mila kicked the ball directly into the goal from a free kick. This was Mila's first goal in Groclin. Groclin was still attacking, and Górnik only contrattacking from time to time. And one of these contrattacks in the 34' was successful. Januszewski made another mistake, Kompała passed form the right side, and Gierczak scored. The draw was enough for Górnik, but not for Groclin. In the second half Groclin was still attacking, but their attacks weren't dangerous, and the match wasn't so interesting. In the end of the match there was a foul on Niedzielan by Łukaszewski, and the referee decided about the penalty kick. Robert Kolasa's shot was defended by Mariusz Liberda. The referee's decision made Bogusław Kaczmarek - Groclin's coach - so angry, that he had to be sent off, because of his behaviour!!

Wisła Kraków's fine start to the Ekstraklasa season continued after they thrashed Zagłębie Lubin today. Maciej Żurawski scored three times in eleven minutes to give the early pacesetters a 4-1 away win. Wisła had gone behind to Zbigniew Grzybowski's penalty on 21 minutes, but they drew level before half-time through Jacek Paszulewicz. Then Żurawski struck, the Polish international registering a quick-fire hat-trick soon after the hour. The fact Lubin had signed four Wisła players in the summer only added to their misery.
