It is known that Lech's and KSZO's fans like themselves. Before the match Norbert Tyrajski was named the best footballer and the best goalkeeper of II division 2001/02. Next, the first match of the new season began. In the 3' after a foul of Goliński on Popiela, the referee Borski from Warszawa, ordered a penalty kick. Popiela missed, and one minute later it was 1-0 for Lech. After Lech's new player Łukasz Madej passed the ball to Przysiuda, he scored the first goal. Three minutes later it was Przysiuda who tried scoring one more time, but KSZO's goalkeeper defended the kick. But after ten minutes it was 2:0. Piskuła kicked the ball directly on the head of Goliński, and he from the 5th meter just couldn't miss. Till the end of the first half, Lech played defensive, and KSZO couldn't attack with any effect. In the second half Lech had an advantage. Artur Bugaj missed from a small distance. Polonia Warszawa started thsi season very well. After solid performance they beat Amica Wronki, who disappointed in his first match by weak play. First shot of the match was from Amica, Marek Zieńczuk, but first good action gave Polonia the sore. In 9 minute Gołaszewski from corner kick pass the ball to Arkadiusz Bąk who made a precise header. Amica want level the score very soon, they made two shots (Dżikija and Zieńczuk) but Polonia keeper must even to made any save. The play was fast this moment, both teams players offensive football, wor hard, so we saw many shots and... fouls. In 22 minunte Polonia made another good attack, Gołaszewski change the ball with Bąk, he pass very precise into 16m area and Nigerian Ekwueme running through, put the ball just underneath the bar, giving no chance to Szamotulski. Till the end of the first half Polonia played very cool game, waiting for any weakness of opposite team. The begun the second half by Bykowski good short, but Szamotulski made a good save. About 60 minute Amica Wronki have two good chances but Krzyształowicz on right place. The best Amica opportunity was in 86 min but Król missed a header from 5 metre. In last minutes Polonia Warszawa could even score once more after counter-attacks - but Dąbrowski shot was saved by Szamotulski and Kuś's header was save on the line by Tomasz Sokołowski. Best players: Krzysztalowicz, Scherfchen, Kaczorowski

The coach of Amica Wronki, Mirosław Jabłoński said: "I hardly know my players in the first time. You can lose such kind of goals in first division level. It was a little better in second half, but unfortunately we couln't score."

Janusz Białek (coach of Polonia Warszawa) said: "I'm happy about win in my first match as Polonia coach. And win against Amica is even more worth. Particulary in first half we show good actions and we made two goals. In second-half we was back a little bit - it wasn't necessery. I proud about my players ambition, determination and fight on the field. We can improve our play but we are happy about 3 points."

It was a surprise that Groclin drew with the champion, Legia, 3-3. The match was very interesting. Also here there was a minute of silence, for the death of Benedykt Nocoń. The coach of national team, Zbigniew Boniek came to see the match. Legia was attacking from the very beginning, getting several corners in the first ten minutes. The first goal for Legia was scored in the 19'. Wojciech Szala passed the ball from the right side to Majewski, who shooted from the 5th meter. Three minutes later Rasiak shooted after running to the ball kicked by Jackiewicz, from the 28th meter! It was 1-1. In the 37' after a kick, which was though to be harmless, the goalkeeper didn't catch the ball, and Tomasz Moskała scored for 2-1. After the break Wojciech Szala got the second yellow card for hitting Januszewski in the face. Despite that, Legia was the better team. In the 74' Magiera made an individual action, and passed to Kucharski, who scored for 2-2 from about 20 meters. Groclin was attacking hardly, and after a foul on Moskała the referee decided about a penalty kick. It was 2-3 for Legia - Rasiak didn't miss. In the 90' Omieljańczuk shot from the 25th meter, and (it was a surprise) - scored a goal! In this match Moskała and Rasiak, after playing half a year together are getting better and better.

There were many more people wanting to see Szczakowianka's first Ekstraklasa match, but on the stadium there were only 7.000 places. The stadium was already full 1,5 hour before the match! In Wisła didn't play: Frankowski, Sarnat, and Stolarczyk. And in Szczakowianka: Czerwiec (some agreement with Wisła), Górak and Salami (too many cards). In the 9' Szczakowianka attacked, but Hugues, the new Wisła's goalkeeper defended Chudy's kick. In the 14' Pater tried kicking from 40 meters, but he missed. In the 15' a shot with the head by Pater was regarded as an offside by the referee, Piotr Kotos. In the 20' Iwański tried to score, but he kicked the ball too high. In the 23' Pater tried, but he kicked too lightly. In the next five minutes there were Wisła's attacks. From a free kick Szymkowiak missed. In the 30' from about 12 meters kicked Wolański, but also missed. In the 40' after an action of three players, Pater-Moskal-Uche, the last one also didn't score. The first goal came in the 43'. The action was began by Iwański. Kozubek was the one who scored the goal. And in the 44', just seconds before the end of the first half, after Kosowski's action, Żurawski equalized. In the second half Uche tried to score in the 49', 62', and 64'. Also Błasiak missed.
